The Del Norte and Tribal Lands Community Food Council (DNATL Food Council) is seeking a collaborative, experienced, and passionate Food Program Director. This is an exciting opportunity to continue the legacy of work aimed at building a resilient, just, and thriving food system in one of California’s most stunning and isolated regions.

The Food Program Director oversees the management and growth of all DNATL Food Council activities. This position requires a high level of experience and focus on grant administration, budget management, employee supervision, and community collaboration.
The Food Program Director essential job duties include the following:
- Lead program strategy development and implementation. Create strategic planning for 3,5, & 10 year outlook, program focus, and funding needs.
- Manage 18 streams of state, federal, private funding, & grants through annual budgeting, quarterly reporting, invoicing, and reimbursements. Review budgets in order to prioritize spending needs and meet grant budgets and spend down deadlines. Manage approximately 3 million across 6 programs. Seek out additional funding sources as needed to support programs and anticipated funding gaps or ending of grants.
- Oversee the completion of all grant reporting requirements, including progress reports, budget reports, quarterly invoicing with financial statement support, and data collection.
- Supervise and lead a growing group of staff, volunteers, & interns: currently 13 employees, 4-6 volunteers, & 2-6 interns.
- Coordinate & manage monthly DNATL Community Food Council Steering Committee of 8-15 members, keeping members engaged and integrating community input into food program strategy.
- Serve as the bridge between the Food Council and the FRCR Executive Director for Food Program grants & projects.
- Collaborate and participate with numerous county, regional, state, and federal partners and networks and serves as a spokesperson for the DNATL Food Council at diverse stakeholder tables.
- Take on new roles & responsibilities as the food program work grows and evolves.
